Meet the Orthodontist
MICHAEL HARRISON, D.M.D., M.S.
Although I have practiced orthodontics for over 20 years, I am more passionate than ever about creating a beautiful new smile for each and every one of our patients! I look forward to each day that I am privileged to be a part of the process. It is so rewarding to see the positive impact a stunning smile has on each person and what a gratifying experience it is to witness their transformation in appearance and self esteem. One of the many highlights of my job is really getting to know my patients and their parents as they become part of our Harrison Orthodontics family!
Education
I received my undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Mississippi. I then attended the University of Mississippi, School of Dentistry where I was selected to OKU, the National Dental Honor Society and was a Magna Cum Laude graduate. Following this, I attended MUSC in Charleston where I received my Specialty Degree in Pediatric Dentistry. While practicing as a Pediatric Dentist, I became very interested in Orthodontics and decided to pursue the necessary training. I attended the University of Tennessee where I received a Master’s Degree in the Specialty of Orthodontics. My dual specialty degrees have provided me with a unique training background especially in the treatment of children.
Continuing Education
Along with my team, I regularly attend continuing education courses and
participate in various study clubs to stay on the “cutting edge” of
orthodontics and to continue offering our patients proven state of the art
treatment in order to provide them the best orthodontic experience
possible.
I maintain several professional memberships that provide year-round
opportunities for continuing education including:
- Greenville Dental Society
- South Carolina Association of Orthodontists
- Southern Association of Orthodontists
- American Association of Orthodontists
- North and South Carolina Damon Study Club
Outside of the practice…

When I am not in the office, I love spending time with my wife, Trish and our sons, Daniel and Matthew, doing any number of activities which almost always involves something physical; working out, running, hiking, scuba diving (a family favorite!) and especially traveling and meeting people from around the world. I also enjoy being in the outdoors, hunting, and fishing.
